Please read these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") carefully before purchasing or booking any service with A Fine Balance. By making a purchase or booking, you agree to be bound by these Terms. We may update these Terms from time to time by posting a revised version on our website. The Terms in effect at the time of your booking will apply.
ABOUT US
"A Fine Balance" refers to a number of separate businesses and independent freelance instructors who deliver services to you, the client. You must ensure you book your services at the correct location, as the Upminster and Saffron Walden Studios operate independently and each has its own MINDBODY client management system. You will need a separate account for each studio.
A Fine Balance comprises the following:
A Fine Balance Saffron Walden Limited (Company No. 16365303)
Registered Address: 1 Emson Close, Saffron Walden, CB10 1HL
This company manages the Saffron Walden studio and associated services. It acts as an agent for independent freelance instructors, oversees studio operations, bookings, and client communications. Instructors are self-employed, deliver services independently, and authorise the company to manage operations. Instructors abide by these Terms but remain independent.
A Fine Balance Limited (Company No. 11224414)
Registered Address: 173 St Mary’s Lane, Upminster, RM14 3BL
This company manages the Upminster studio and services. It also acts as an agent for independent freelance instructors, handling studio operations, bookings, and administration. Instructors independently deliver services and authorise the company to manage studio operations on their behalf.
Services may also occur at venues such as The Arts Centre and The Maltings in Dunmow.
Hannah Horne, trading as A Fine Balance Yoga, is an independent instructor providing yoga, Pilates, personal training, workshops, and retreats across various locations.
The website www.afinebalance.me is operated by the entities above.
DEFINITIONS
"Service" – Any activity provided by an instructor, including classes, workshops, retreats, private sessions (in-person or online).
"We" / "Us" / "Our" / "A Fine Balance" – Includes all companies and instructors listed above.
"Student" / "You" / "Your" – The person receiving or booking services.
"Registration Form" – The electronic waiver and consent completed during sign-up (e.g., via MINDBODY).
"Studio" – Includes 173 St Mary’s Lane, Upminster; 1 Emson Close, Saffron Walden; and any hired/remote venue.
"Website" – www.afinebalance.me
"Online" – Services delivered via digital platforms (live or recorded).
These Terms apply equally to promotional or non-paying participants. Governed by the laws of England and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of English courts.
TERMS AND POLICIES
By booking or attending any service with A Fine Balance, you agree to our Terms, Liability Waiver, and Privacy Policy.
You must provide accurate, up-to-date information.
We may refuse, suspend, or terminate access without prior notice for safety reasons, misconduct, or breach of Terms. This may be done at our discretion to protect the wellbeing of the community.
CCTV may be in operation for security.
BOOKINGS AND PAYMENTS
Services must be pre-booked and paid for in advance.
You are responsible for ensuring correct bookings and payments.
All purchases are non-refundable and non-transferable unless stated.
Prices, schedules, instructors, and classes may change without notice.
We may cancel classes at our discretion. If we cancel:
Class pass/credit holders: credit returned to MINDBODY account
Unlimited members: rescheduled session or £5 credit
Holiday timetables may apply.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Standard Classes
Cancel 12+ hours before: credit/refund (if applicable)
Under 12 hours or no-show:
Class pass holders: credit lost
Members: £5 late cancel / £10 no-show charge
Courses & Workshops
No cancellations or refunds once booked.
Private 1:1 Sessions
48 hours' notice required to cancel/reschedule
Late cancels/no-shows charged in full
Retreats & Special Events – Separate terms provided at booking
ARRIVAL & LATE ARRIVAL
Arrive 5–10 minutes early.
Late arrivals not admitted; class counts as no-show.
WAITLIST POLICY
Join the waitlist if a class is full.
If added to a class, you are automatically booked in.
Cancellation terms apply.
STUDIO RULES
You must inform your instructor at the start of every class if you have any injuries, health conditions, or are pregnant.
You are responsible for ensuring you have received appropriate medical clearance to participate in classes. You take part at your own risk.
Please clean all mats and studio props after use.
Stay for the entire session, including the final relaxation or cooldown period, unless you have informed the instructor in advance.
No shoes are to be worn inside the studio space. No glass bottles are permitted.
Follow all fire safety and evacuation procedures as directed by staff.
Any misconduct or failure to follow studio rules may result in immediate removal from the class and/or studio. Refunds will not be issued in such cases.
SOCIAL MEDIA & MARKETING
Photos/videos may be taken during classes or events.
By attending, you consent to promotional use unless you opt out in writing.

SPECIFIC SERVICES
Day Retreats: Non-refundable; transferable
Rooftop Yoga: Weather-dependent; refunds for severe weather
Dunmow Services: Managed by A Fine Balance Limited or Hannah Horne

Proof of eligibility required. Excludes memberships, workshops, and bundles.
TEACHING ARRANGEMENTS
A Fine Balance Limited and A Fine Balance Saffron Walden Limited act as agents for independent instructors. Each company manages operations at its respective studio (Upminster and Saffron Walden). Instructors:
Deliver the services and operate independently
Authorise A Fine Balance to manage bookings and studio operations
Agree to comply with A Fine Balance Terms and studio policies
RESPECT & BEHAVIOUR POLICY
At A Fine Balance, we are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone.
We have a zero-tolerance policy towards abusive, rude, or inappropriate behaviour. This includes bullying, harassment, victimisation, discrimination, or any form of prejudice—whether in person or via email, phone, social media, or any other communication channel. We expect all clients to treat our team and fellow community members with kindness, patience, and courtesy at all times.
Right to Suspend or Remove Access If a client’s conduct—whether verbal, written, or behavioural—is deemed inappropriate or in breach of our values or Terms, A Fine Balance reserves the right to suspend or remove access to classes, memberships, or the studio entirely. This decision will be made at the discretion of the management team and may be enforced without prior warning. In such cases, no refunds will be issued.

LIABILITY & COMPENSATION
We accept liability only for injury or loss caused by our negligence.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for any liability that cannot legally be excluded.
We are not liable for issues arising from your actions, third parties, or unforeseeable events, including injuries whilst participating in services.
We are not responsible for loss of personal belongings.
Services may be disrupted due to force majeure (e.g., weather, pandemics).
DATA PROTECTION
A Fine Balance Limited and A Fine Balance Saffron Walden Limited process your data in line with UK GDPR and our Privacy Policy. We use your data for:
Booking & service delivery
Payment processing
Admin & legal compliance
Emergencies & safety
By using our services, you consent to the processing of personal and sensitive data (e.g., health information).
PERSONAL BELONGINGS
Belongings are your responsibility.
We are not liable for loss, theft, or damage.
Lost property is held for 14 days, then disposed of.
