Calligraphy Mantra & Yoga workshop - awaken the Goddess within

'She realised that the one she had even waiting for, had been her all along.’ Rebecca Campbell

Be your best self. During this session we will focus on channeling your personal mantra through expressive ink. You will learn how to prepare your nib, pen posture, and after-care. Practice the flow of ink on paper, creating shapes, working on pressure-points and forming a rhythm when connecting the letters in order to form motivational words. Our words will weave into the deeper Self and invoke that goddess within.

You will be guided through a self-care task: choosing 3 goals for your personal mantra, and connecting with the fluidity of the ink on a variety of surface mediums.

The creative energy formed from your mantra will then flow through our stream of ink and embody itself into your yoga practice.

Tanya will bring the workshop to a close with a liberating creative yoga practice where you will utilise your mantras to awaken the goddess within and deepen the meditative aspects of your physical practice.

Calling upon Kali, Durga, Saraswati and Lakshmi for inspiration, we will be going on a journey of love, one that will take you into your wild and free self. For women especially, tuning into mantras and the goddesses is a way of homing in on aspects of our own life-energy that we may never have understood or owned.

All materials will be supplied and a Beginner’s Mantra Calligraphy Kit will be yours to take away so you can exercise this at home.

Tap into a deep source of empowerment, creativity and happiness.

Syzygy Sister (pronounced Siz-uh-gee) deliver creative workshops which have been carefully designed to use practical, spiritual and nurturing tools to explore individuals inner creative self.

Mastering the Splits - Hanumanasana

Want to learn how to work towards the splits in a safe and fun environment?

In case you’ve never heard of him, Hanuman was a Hindu monkey god who took a really big leap into the front splits across the ocean. The coolest thing about him though is that he didn’t think he could do it at first – so much like hanuman, the front splits is something you’re probably going to have to work at!

Hanumanasana or Splits is considered one of the more inaccessible yoga asanas. This workshop will help you understand the mechanics of the pose and allow you to work through the various challenges it presents.

Through a carefully structured sequence, skills and drills, you will approach the splits with knowledge and courage.

This workshop will leave you feeling encouraged, inspired and ready to tackle the splits in your own self practice or during class.

All levels welcome - this workshops is 2 hours of safe and progressive stretching.

Love Your Pelvic Floor: A Yoga Workshop

Gift yourself the time for this workshop and come explore the role the pelvic floor plays in our daily lives. You will leave with tools to develop your pelvic floor muscles and a deeper understanding of one of the most fundamental aspects of your female anatomy.

One-third of women suffer from one or more pelvic floor disorders, which include symptoms such as the frequent urge to urinate, dropped pelvic organs, and incontinence. Women.

In France, women after birth are given pelvic floor rehab classes as part of normal post natal treatment. Yet, in the UK it is pretty much not talked about.

This workshop will focus on:

  • The role of the pelvic floor and pelvic girdle
  • Yoga poses, posture and the use of the breath to support a healthy pelvic floor
  • How to identify, isolate and engage with your pelvic floor

Creating a more mindful life

We all want to be healthier and happier, but how can we actually make it happen? This workshop will open with a mindful yoga practice that will help us feel grounded and connected. Tanya will encourage you to focus on the five human senses: mindfully practicing yoga poses means moving the mind away from the internal monologue to focusing on the sensations in the body.

Following the practice, we will look at simple, practical day-to-day practices that can also help create that internal transformation, including: yoga's ancient roots and philosophies; to the idea of non-attachment; the power of the breath; and the ability to see ourselves as enough just as we are; as well as working with affirmations and setting intentions.

We will then enter a beautiful guided 30 minute body scan meditation. The workshop will close with time to journal and reflect on your thoughts/record your experience.

This workshop will help you find new ways of being present, create a sense of inner peace and an understanding that our happiness come from internal sources (not external ones).

You don’t need to stand on your head to be a yogi.

Our community meditation class is donation based with all proceeds going to our chosen charity - Cool Earth. Please give what you can on the day.

ABOUT COOL EARTH - SUPPORTED BY DAVID ATTENBOROUGH

www.coolearth.org

COOL EARTH IS THE NON-PROFIT ORGANISATION THAT WORKS ALONGSIDE RAINFOREST COMMUNITIES TO HALT DEFORESTATION AND ITS IMPACT ON CLIMATE CHANGE.

Half of the world’s rainforest has been destroyed in the last 40 years. And, contrary to the headlines, rainforest continues to be lost at a faster rate than ever. But it’s not too late. Cool Earth believes the rainforest can be saved. We just need a new approach.

That’s why we don’t create reserves or put up fences. We don’t buy land. Instead, we put local people back in control of their forest.

Local people stand to lose the most from deforestation but the most to gain from its protection. As such, they are the forest’s best possible custodians. That’s why all Cool Earth partnerships are community-owned and led – an approach that research is continually proving to be the most effective way to keep rainforest standing.

By developing local livelihoods, our mission is to end the cycle of deforestation entrenching villages into further poverty. Creating strong, self-determining communities – not dependency.

We are also the only charity that works solely where the threat to the forest is greatest, on the frontline of deforestation. And each of our partnerships forms a shield to make the neighbouring forest inaccessible to loggers – saving millions of acres of further forest.

Yoga Fundamentals: Eight Limbs of Yoga

Yoga Fundamentals: Eight Limbs of Yoga

What is the aim of yoga? What are the eight limbs of yoga? Where do they come from? How can they help my practice?

Anchoring our practice in Patañjali's ancient text, the Yoga Sutras, these are some of the questions we will address over the course of this workshop. We'll explore what Patañjali taught in his eight limbs, providing a brief overview and introduction to the concepts of the Yamas and Niyamas. We'll then apply what we discover to refine and challenge our physical yoga practice, leaving time for guidance through a meditation – the component at the heart of Patañjali's yoga.

During this workshop, you will explore Patañjali's Eight Limbs of Yoga System (Ashtanga):

  • Yama (attitudes toward our environment)
  • Niyama (attitudes toward ourselves)
  • Asana (physical postures)
  • Pranayama (restraint or expansion of the breath)
  • Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses)
  • Dharana (concentration)
  • Samadhi (enlightenment)

This two hour workshop will include pranayama (breathing practice), asana (posture work) and guided meditation, all taught with Louise’s characteristic clear instruction, humour and strong focus on alignment.

You will leave with a stronger appreciation for your own mind-body connection and the role yoga can play in your life.

This workshop is great if you are a beginner or are wishing to deepen your yoga practice.

A great way to connect with other parents who are going through similar experiences! The gang always pops for a coffee and baby chats afterwards.

No experience of yoga is needed; just a desire for a sense of wellbeing. Pre-booking is required as space is limited to keep the atmosphere friendly and intimate.

Investment: £60 for 6 consecutive weeks of classes

(classes are non-refundable and transferable | must be used consecutively)

Please note: space is very limited - where possible can you bring your baby in a carrier or sling. The buggy will need to be folded down at the entrance and carried through to the parking space behind the studio. All buggies and personal belongings left at your own risk
