How to make the most of your time at A Fine Balance

  • Practice silence during sessions - Once the class has started, please try to avoid talking as this can disrupt the flow and the introspective nature of our sessions.

How do I book a class?

You can book a class via this website or the MINDBODY app on your smartphone.

You can register and create an account here or do so when choosing a class you wish to book.

Just head to our timetable here and click ‘book’ on the session you want to join.

How do I cancel a class?

Please note you can cancel your class as long as you give 12 hours notice. Workshops and courses cannot be cancelled (payment confirms commitment).

Cancel class:

  1. Log in to your account here.

  2. Click on My Info > My Schedule.

  3. Locate the reservation you wish to cancel and click Cancel.

  4. Confirm the cancellation by clicking OK.

What is your cancellation policy for classes?

Please note our 12 hours Cancellation Policy when booking. You can read our cancellation policy here.

Courses and workshops - Courses and workshops cannot be cancelled or refunded - once purchased you have committed to the payment.

121 and private sessions - We operate a strict 24 hour cancellation policy on behalf of the private class teachers. For cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice or if you do not turn up for your appointment, you will be charged the full appointment fee in these circumstances.

I have never done yoga or pilates, what class is best for me?

We offer beginners classes and courses, find out more here.

We recommend telling the teacher at the start of the class if you are new to A Fine Balance so they can support you.

 

I am pregnant, can I join in?

We want to make sure that your baby and you stay safe. You cannot join any services offered by A Fine Balance until you are in your second trimester / 13 weeks+. We recommend you participate in pregnancy yoga classes where possible. If you had a regular yoga practice before you got pregnant, you can join our timetable of classes from your second trimester, but must inform the teacher at the start of the class and do so at the risk of yourself and your unborn child. What if I have an injury?

Please note, we are not physiotherapists, doctors or specialists in injuries. Please seek appropriate advice on injuries before joining our sessions. We ask you to inform the teacher of any injuries at the start of the class. You need to take things at your own pace and rest when needed. We ask students to take responsibility for their injuries, modify and listen to their bodies.

What time should I arrive?

We ask you to arrive 5 minutes before the class starts (no earlier if possible, as you will have to wait outside the studio). We do not accept any latecomers out of respect to the teacher and students. The door is locked at the start of the class.

 

What if I am late?

To respect everyone participating, please arrive on time, our doors open at least 5 minutes before the class starts and are locked at the start of the class. Late entry is not possible.

What equipment do I need?

Yourself, comfortable clothes, yoga mat and some water. We also recommend purchasing yoga props if you plan to participate regularly. Yoga blocks, strap and bolster can be useful.

 

No mobile phones

To avoid disruption, we do not allow the use of mobile phones during our sessions. Give yourself a break from your phone and respect others.

Quiet during class

Once the class has started, please try to avoid talking as this can disrupt the flow and the introspective nature of our sessions.

How do I extend my class pass?

Our class packs are at a reduced rates so we only allow one extension for one month - we charge £10 administration fee for a one month class pass extensions. You can extend your passes by emailing us: hello@afinebalance.me

Parking

We don’t have dedicated parking, so recommend giving yourself extra time before your first session to find somewhere suitable in Upminster to park or where possible walk to the studio.

Do you have a changing room?

Yes, we have a toilet with changing room included.

Do you have somewhere to put my bag and coat?

Yes, we have hooks to hang coats and bags plus a place for shoes, please make sure these are used and belongings are not left around the studio. We ask everyone to take the shoes off at the studio door to keep the floor clean.

What if I have an injury?

Please inform the teacher of any injuries at the start of the class. You need to take things at your own pace and rest when needed. We ask students to take responsibility for their injuries, modify and listen to their bodies.

Clean mats and props

For hygiene reasons and to respect the next person, please always clean mats and props with the sanitising wipes after use. practice Saucha (Cleanliness). Tidy up after yourself - Return props and mats neatly and sanitise with wipes provided

No leaving early

To avoid disrupting others, we ask you to stay for the entire class especially Savasana. Please refrain from leaving before the class has finished. This may mean parking your car somewhere that allows you to stay for the full practice including the time needed to arrive and leave calmly.

Shoe-free zone

A Fine Balance is a shoe free zone. All outdoor footwear is to be removed at the entrance to the Studio.

Glass-free zone

For safety reasons and because all customers are barefoot – no crockery, glass or anything breakable is permitted in any part of the Studio.

Fire alarm

In the event of a fire you are asked to exit out of the nearest door (at the front or back of the Studio).

We reserve the right to refuse entry or expel you from the Studio should your conduct be deemed unfit or should they be deemed to be in breach of the Terms. In such instances, A Fine Balance Limited will not refund you.
